Kerlin Pei

Kerlin Pei is a Program Manager at the Raytheon Company – Integrated Defense Systems at Andover, Massachusetts. Raytheon Company, with 2007 sales of $21.3 billion, is a technology leader specializing in defense, homeland security and other government markets throughout the world.
Kerlin grew up in Taiwan, graduated from college, and served two years in the ROC Army as Second Lieutenant before coming to the U. S. in 1980. He earned his first master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1982 and started at Singer-Link Simulation in Maryland as a System Engineer working in the nuclear power simulation. To expand his knowledge, he continued to pursue a master’s degree in Computer Science at the Johns Hopkins University part-time and earned the degree in 1985. Continuing his work in nuclear power industry, Kerlin moved to Maine, and obtained a Professional Engineer license from State of Maine. Later he earned a MBA from Southern New Hampshire University in 1996. During his residency in Maine, he served as a principal in the only Chinese language school in Maine for several years and was active in the Chinese-American community.
In 1997, he joined Raytheon and moved to Massachusetts. Started as an individual contributor, Kerlin later led a team of software engineers in developing radar software for the missile defense. He was certified as a Raytheon Six Sigma Expert in 2003 and was given various assignments in improving product or process performance. To promote diversity within Raytheon, he co-found the Raytheon Asian Pacific Association – New England region, and served various official positions including its president. He was active in the Boston Chinese community, and served various positions in the Chinese Language School in Lexington and the Greater Boston Chinese Culture Association.
Since 1982, Kerlin marries with Christine, have two sons – Shermin and Sheldon, and resides in Carlisle, Massachusetts.
