W. Christopher Fang, MD, MBA brings a wealth of experience in both medical device and pharmaceutical industries.
Dr. Fang has been highly focused on clinical research, evidence based medicine, and business development for some of the most noted companies in the industry. He is currently the Worldwide Director of Clinical Affairs for Depuy Spine, a Johnson and Johnson Company. Dr. Fang’s responsibilities focus on registration and post market clinical activities worldwide. In this role, Dr. Fang is appointed to a variety of strategic positions on new product development, reimbursement, and business development. Dr. Fang serves as the Chair of the Clinical Research Committee responsible for selection and management of clinical programs and investigator initiated studies.
Dr. Fang started his career at Idenix Pharmaceuticals where he led two global registration trials for Hepatitis B. Dr. Fang was later appointed as head of Cardiovascular Research and Medical Director of Global Drug Safety at Mitsubishi Pharma Corporation before moving on to Medtronic Vascular. As the Director of Clinical Affairs and Head of Global Clinical Safety, Dr. Fang was responsible for coronary and peripheral device trials.
Dr. Fang has been a member of professional societies including the Massachusetts Medical Society, American Heart Association, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and the American Medical Informatics Association. With an active interest in the scientific field, Dr. Fang has published a number of peer reviewed journal articles and written a book chapter for A Clinician’s Guide to Diagnostic Testing. He is currently a member of the Program Committee and Business Development Committee for AdvaMed Annual Meeting. He has also served on the Steering Committee for the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association New England Chapter.
Dr. Fang completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California at Los Angeles, earned a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins, a M.D. from Cornell University Medical College, and a M.B.A from The Wharton School. He was trained in general surgery at University of Massachusetts and medical informatics at Massachusetts General Hospital.
